Use your brain! You are the smarter one! You have to use your brain! So it says and actually should be that way. However, could Hitler have been persuaded by nice talk and good argumentation? Probably not. There are five ways to convince others or to be convinced yourself: - via discussion with argumentation - By using violence - by money or other 'gifts' - By using one’s position (e.g. director - employee) - by showing example, i.e. role Of course, the first and fifth should predominate in daily life. That tells us pacifistic reasoning. However, remorse is very often not achievable through these. Without adequate self-criticism of the person to be convinced, the result of any process of conviction is a humiliation. And mental strokes are often more painful and lasting than physical ones. However, what should happen if interests collide? A result via reasoning presupposes that the person to be convinced rises to this level, which is often not the case. In such a case, a democratic state uses the means of police and court, for example, when facing a nationalist or other right-wing radical. However, what should the small man do, to whom these means are not available and possibly the state and its courts even protect these people or have succumbed to these ideologies. In this case, the democrat, the wiser, must employ other means and beat the person to persuade with his / her own weapons. Intelligence here does not mean to do everything with one’s head because the other side would not listen anyway. Intelligence must mean to select and use the most appropriate of the five options mentioned above. Back to list!
