Right-wingers: Heil Hitler and
God is white!
Left-wingers: ?
Liberal: ?
A German general signs Germany's
capitulation at the end of the Second World War and greets lifting his right
hand with his general’s rod. "Heil Hitler," he said no more. One
could of course also interpret this as a custom that already existed in
ancient Rome. But it was probably too much inside of him and came
automatically.
It is a longing to be led, to
belong to a strong organization or group. Moses fooled the Jews in the desert
for forty years. Alexander had led his warriors thousands of kilometers into
a previously unknown area before they finally woke up in India and put an end
to this senseless march, since they had not been at home for years. Hannibal
ordered his blind believers to walk from Spain across the Alps to Rome
(Hannibal ante portas) and southern Italy. Napoleon was stopped in Moscow not
by his own soldiers, but by the harsh winter. Germany had to be devastated
(there are pictures of Cologne showing the Cologne Cathedral as the only
building still standing) before the Germans came to the obvious conclusion that
the war was lost.
The list of examples of this
madness could go on endlessly. But where does this need of many people come
from, not to want to think critically? What makes authoritarian systems
appear in such an attractive light?
It is the lack of
self-confidence, the fear of responsibility, the fear of a full life par
excellence.
Unfortunately, this longing does
not only exist in right-wingers. So-called left-wing extremists also seem
to pay tribute to this remnant coming from slave and serfdom systems. Their
god is called ideology and dogma in both cases. But a really liberal person
cannot agree to that. Every day he tries to confront other opinions and
interests, either to realize his own ideas or to improve them via ideas or
suggestions from others. She / He hates the convenience and laziness to accept
others' thoughts and commands uncritically. The future of humanity lies in
the critical and researching individual.
