Christianity, Nazism, Communism,
Islam, Buddhism
The cross, the red star, the
crescent moon with a star or a Buddha statue! How many crimes have been and
are likely to be committed in the name of these symbols.
In Tibetan, pre-Buddhist folk
tales, the Buddhist monk is always depicted as a violent monster. Apparently,
there was no religious missionary activity without violence.
No religion has been as brutal in
controlling its believers with, for example, the burning of witches and the
Inquisition, as the Christian, while Muslims only imposed a higher tax rate
on the "unbelievers / infidels" than on others. Fortunately, in Europe today,
by separating the church and the state, we have reduced the harmful religious
influence on society, which is one of the fundaments for greater ideological
tolerance. Unfortunately, this is not the case in Arab countries, which led
to modern terrorism.
Communism was forced to act
radically by the strong resistance that it encountered, especially among
leading classes. During the twentieth century, Nazism and Fascism, an
ideological mixture of state capitalism and exaggerated nationalism, has
probably had the most terrible impact on humanity, combined with wars and genocides.
That would be the historical
side; But what about the ideological side now?
Basically, almost all ideologies
show a human-friendly side:
- Buddhism teaches that everyone
has the same opportunity to get to nirvana (paradise) if they lead a
corresponding life.
- Jesus speaks of love for one's
neighbour, even if he immediately adds, "If you are not with me, you are
against me!" Which seems rather intolerant to me.
- The Koran preaches tolerance
towards the vanquished and was therefore able to integrate the knowledge of
all cultures around it in the Middle Ages, while Europe was groping in the
deepest dogmatic darkness.
- Communism, i.e. Marx speaks of
economic equality.
- Only Fascism and Nazism, because
of a wrong interpretation of the theory of evolution, divide mankind into
races that fight for survival, by the stronger annihilating the weaker.
After such a summary of the
historical and ideological knowledge of the background, who would still
equate the communist "red star" with the swastika, no matter what
personal experience is available, and not the red star with the cross and the
crescent moon with a star.
