Galileo and his theory about the solar system He had been brought to justice and sentenced to death at the stake. Shortly before the judgment was carried out, he was asked again whether he would withdraw his heretical teachings. He agreed, a human decision: he wanted to live. But why was it so important for the Catholic Church to force him to do so? The background for this is the Bible. "God created man in his image!" So it says in the so-called holy scripture. If we are the image of God, then logically we have to be the best that the good old gentleman has accomplished. Of course, I put my best work in the middle of the room, where it immediately catches everyone's eye and not in any dusty corner. And now, there is such an "educated buffoon" and turns the whole thing upside down. When he says that the focus of our thinking is not the earth, but the sun, then, we, on earth, are standing in the corner of the solar system. It is as much as saying that God did not create us, or worse, that God may not even exist. What a presumption! For centuries, the church had taken us for fools. Knowledge very often does not make you smart, but courageous, fear eats up your soul. There are many such episodes throughout history. Darwin, for example, was unpopular for many at the time because of his theories. How long will it take people to finally get rid of this source of stupidity? Back to list!
