The importance of integration,
both for those to be integrated and for society
Especially when economic crises
occur, large parts of society look for scapegoats and usually find them in
marginalized groups. The next step is segregation. However, this exclusion
always has more serious consequences than an unsuccessful integration. Since
the less educated classes of society are also used to do less sophisticated
work, the excluded cannot simply be shipped, for example, to Madagascar; and
since they continue to live here, they automatically come into contact with
the so-called higher classes. The result is crime that is necessary for
survival, the so-called procurement crime. If the wealthier do not want to
live in protection zones (golden cages) like in South Africa or South America
and only travel by car because they can no longer dare to go onto the
streets, they must also take care of the poorer. The only way out of this
dilemma of use and expulsion is to ensure normal education for lower classes.
Adam Smith described this in his book ‘The wealth of nations’. The moneyless
were simply returned to the village or town they came from and the local
community had to take care of them.
But what does it mean to secure appropriate
education? Statistics show that segregated schools are mostly unsuccessful. However,
even for integrated members of society, a few outsiders as classmates in the
same school class would be an advantage.
"What an allegation!" I
hear parents cry out, who send their offspring for a fortune to elite schools.
But they can easily convince themselves of the correctness of my statement if
they only ask themselves the question of what is most important in today's
professional life: - specialist knowledge as science is developing faster and
faster - language skills as we live in a globalized world - and the ability
to work with different people.
Where is the best place to learn
the latter? Of course, in an institute where our children are confronted with
having to spend several hours a day with people of the same age from
different cultures and social classes, realizing that you can also play with
them and later on work together if you act accordingly. You should start
playing the piano as early as possible, i.e. at the age of 3 or 4 years, the
same is true for recognizing behavior and how best to react to it. The
ability to be flexible is the key word or magic word. “Sesame of the world, open
up! Since I am able to get on well with anybody and anywhere."
